Tim Bean

Nicky Campbell-Allen

Organisation: Massey University, New Zealand

Presentation: Leadership Skills for New Leaders.

Bio: Nicky is a lecturer within the Centre for Quality & Supply Chain Management within the School of Engineering & Advanced Technology at Massey University. She teaches on both internal and extramural papers on leadership and management, quality management, process improvement and business excellence, is joint co-ordinator for the suite of qualifications available within the Quality Systems framework at Massey University, and has been an Evaluator for the New Zealand Business Excellence Awards.

Nicky has held a number of positions in the quality field including Staff Development Consultant, Quality Management Trainer and Policy Coordinator in a healthcare organisation, and as the Organisational Development & Quality Manager for an insurance company. Immediately prior to joining the staff of Massey University Nicky ran her own consulting company where she worked with both small/large companies (private/government owned), and specialised in quality management practices – including analysing business processes to determine areas for improvement, process redesign, policy writing, managing improvement projects and teams, and training staff in quality management practices.

Henri Eliot

Organisation: Board Dynamics Limited, New Zealand

Presentation: Dealing with adversity or crisis from a chairman’s perspective

Bio: Henri Eliot is chief executive of Board Dynamics which provides strategic and consultancy services to directors and boards throughout New Zealand. Henri founded Board Dynamics in 2009 after 15 years in strategy and management consulting. Henri’s career began in London with JP Morgan Chase and PwC. He then went on to hold a number of senior executive positions at Deloitte in New York City and the Bank of Montreal in Toronto. More recently, Henri worked in Telecommunications & ICT Services in New Zealand.

He received his MBA in the UK and his Political Science Degree from McGill University in Canada. Henri studied Law in the US and UK over the years as part of his career. He has also graduated from two executive leadership programs at the University of Western Ontario in Canada (2003) and the University of Waikato in New Zealand (2009). He received his Project Management Professional (PMP) qualification in 2006.

Henri is a Fellow of the Australasia Financial Services Institute (Finsia), member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and the Institute of Directors (IoD). He is a non-executive director of King Tide Asset Management and chairman of Global Wine Group. He is a member of the BMO Investorline Advisory Panel. He is also former board member of the Project Management Institute of New Zealand and a major Toronto Chamber of Commerce.

Peter Goldsbury

Organisation: Tipu Ake Lifecycle, New Zealand

Presentation: Growing Living Organisaitons that thrive in a World of Complexity.

Bio: Peter Goldsbury BE (Elec), Diploma in Management Studies, Diploma in Teaching, PMP, is an experienced engineer, project and business manager who now works as an organizational learning facilitator. In 2000 he returned with a group from the Auckland University of Technology to his primary school deep in the Whirinaki Rainforest in Te Urewera, New Zealand to discover that they had started on a revolutionary self-transformation journey. That started an active research program involving a range of volunteers from around the globe that resulted in the publication of the Tipu Ake Lifecycle. The School and its Maori community (largely underemployed since native rainforest milling was stopped) share this internationally on the web at www.tipuake.org.nz for the benefit of the entire world’s future grandchildren. Acknowledgement is by koha – a Maori form of trading by reciprocal win-win gifting based on trust and the value received.

Nick Heath

Bio: Nick Heath will speak about the Hobart City Council experience of business excellence and values-driven change. Nick has considerable experience in public speaking, including presenting at the prestigious SPRING 2009 Business Excellence Conference in Singapore, the SAI Global Business Excellence Conference (2010) and the Benchmarking Best Practice in Local Government Conference (2012).

Peter Kerridge

Organisation: Kerridge & Partners, New Zealand

Presentation: Best practices at the top table – leveraging metrics at the board.

Bio: Peter Kerridge is the founding partner of Kerridge & Partners, a consulting firm that serves leading businesses and governmental organisations in its homebase of New Zealand and also overseas in North America, the Middle East, Australia and Asia. It has consistently outperformed the market on its growth journey over the last seven years. It has collected a number of awards on the journey, including a Silver National Business Excellence Award and a Deloitte Fast 50 Award.

With over a decade in leadership consulting, Peter has also been a guest lecturer to MBA classes and a conference speaker on how organisations achieve excellence. He is a trained company director and long time member of the Institute of Directors. He holds a Masters Degree from Cambridge University.

Peter joined the management development programme with ICI in the UK, before embarking on an international career that took him via Africa and South America to New Zealand where he progressed to the executive team of a major utility, working on large scale cross-functional business improvement projects.

In keeping with the vision of the business to make a difference to executive search consulting worldwide, Peter is a Council member for the Asia Pacific Region of the international body, the Association of Executive Consultants and served as a member of their global Board of directors until December 2011.

He is also an Advisory Trustee of Leadership New Zealand, an organisation set up to focus on developing and enhancing the quality of New Zealand’s future leaders. In addition he is a Director of Business Excellence Architects Limited.

Brett Marsh

Organisation: Spectrum Care, New Zealand

Presentation: Aristotle, Tiger Woods and DNZ.

Bio: A history as a social worker, senior police officer, management consultant and organisational development enthusiast have provided opportunities to see group environments at their most fractured. Ongoing interest in human cultures across time and space (history and anthropology) and how people work effectively in organisations (Human Resources and Management systems) led Brett to study Arts and Business Studies at University. He is a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Management, Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, Member of the Institute of Directors of New Zealand and holds Professional Membership of the HR Institute of New Zealand. He has recently been elected to the Board of the New Zealand Business Excellence Foundation.

He is currently leading the Business Excellence project for his organisation which supports people with disabilities to have a great life. His team oversees HR, Learning, Research, Quality, Risk, Advocacy Services, International Student Internships, Business Continuity Planning and cultural support groups. In 2010 Spectrum Care received a Silver Business Excellence Award making it the highest performing health and disability provider in New Zealand under the Baldrige Criteria.

Brett is an experienced trainer and presenter who speaks at a range of national and international conferences on his various areas of interest.

Sany Sanuri Mohd Mokhtar

Organisation: University Utara Malaysia, Malaysia

Presentation: The Influence of Market Orientation, Strategic Quality Management on the Performances of Malaysian Manufacturing Firms.

Bio: Sany Sanuri Mohd Mokhtar is the Director of Institute of Quality Management, University Utara Malaysia (UUM) and Associate Professor at the School of Business Management, College of Business. He is currently the ISO technical committee member of Malaysian Industry Standards Committee on Quality Management & Quality Assurance. Sany has represented Malaysia in several plenary meetings of ISO/TC176 on Quality Management and Quality Assurance and as the technical expert for the working group of ISO/TS 10004 Monitoring and Measuring Customer Satisfaction. Sany is also a Certified ISO9001 QMS Lead Assessor/Auditor, Panel Reviewer of Malaysia Quality Assurance and Internal Quality Auditor of ASEAN Quality Assurance. In addition to that, Dr. Sany is also actively involved in conferences and publication of journal. He is also the consultant and trainer in performance and quality management for various public and private organizations. His areas of research interest and specialization include quality management, strategic marketing, service quality, innovation management, customer relationship management and higher education management performance.

David Parmenter

Presentation: The seven foundation stones of leadership – derived from analysing the masters (Sir Ernst Shackleton et al).

Bio: David Parmenter, B.Com, FCA is an international presenter who is known for his thought provoking and lively sessions, which have led to substantial change in many organisations across the twenty countries he has visited. He has written six books with John Wiley & Sons Inc with titles ranging from “Winning CFOs: Implementing and Applying Better Practices” , “The Leading-edge Manager’s Guide to Success – strategies and better practices” to his best seller “Key Performance Indicators – developing, implementing and using winning KPIs” which is now in its second edition.

His work with KPIs has been endorsed internationally by many of his peers. His new book “Key Performance Indicators for Government and Non Profit Agencies” brings a breath of fresh air to the art of crafting and implementing performance metrics. His work is known for its practical, no-nonsense advice about how to measure performance and for challenging overly complex methodologies. David has spent the last twenty years developing step–by-step methodologies covering KPIs, quarterly rolling planning, re-engineering reporting processes to the attributes of winning leadership.

David has also worked for Ernst & Young, BP Oil, Arthur Andersen, and Price Waterhouse. His articles are published in leading accounting, management and leadership journals.

Jarmo Peltoniemi

Organisation: University of Applied Sciences, Finland

Presentation: Middle managers’ leadership experiences in a Finnish governmental office

Bio: Jarmo is currently a degree programme director at the HAAGA-HELIA University of Applied Sciences in Helsinki, Finland. He is also finalizing his PhD dissertation with the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. His research interests cover strategic change, governmental organizations, middle managers and management practices, and ‘sensemaking’ frameworks.

Previously he has been a management consultant in firms like Arthur Andersen Business Consulting and PA Consulting Group. As a consultant he has worked with both small and large private companies and governmental organizations, and specialised in strategy, process and HR consulting. In addition, he has also worked for major international IT companies including Oracle and the SAS Institute. His consulting has covered a number of different areas from consulting to education to sales and management. He has also worked for IDC as the country manager of Finland.

Brent Ritchie

Organisation: Excellence Works, New Zealand

Presentation: Designing a model for a high performing leadership culture: how this model links to the development and management of product, service and business rules.

Bio: Brent is one of New Zealand’s most experienced assessors & team leaders for the Baldrige based New Zealand Business Excellence Awards and is the Managing Director and lead consultant in his own company Excellence Works Ltd. operating in New Zealand, Australia and SE Asia.

Brent’s management experience spans horticulture, manufacturing, tourism, leasing and transport industries. He led a 40-employee business to achieve 5 consecutive Baldrige based awards prior to establishing Excellence Works.

During the past 18 years Brent has evaluated dozens of organisations against the full Baldrige Criteria or Baldrige-derived criteria either as organisational self-assessments or award based evaluations. He has led numerous evaluations with Business Excellence Award recipients and other Baldrige users including Royal & SunAlliance, Synergy International, Degussa Peroxide, Rio Tinto (Comalco), New Zealand Post, Translink Singapore, Ministry of Civil Defence and Emergency Manaagement, Water Safety New Zealand and is the lead consultant with the New Zealand Fire Service (2005 and 2009 Award Winner),.

In recent times Brent’s focus has been on designing and implementing bespoke Baldrige styled industry specific frameworks within the central and local government sectors in New Zealand and Australia. Brent is passionate about excellence as a way to improve people’s work and personal lives.

Anne Anthony Staal

Organisation: Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Netherlands

Presentation: Leadership is Quality Driver – Embedded in Facility Management Education.

Bio: Anne Anthony Staal is an engineer (BEng) and translator (MA). In 1992 he started his career in Intellectual Property Rights ending as a business development manager in patents & licensing at Dutch telco KPN. In 2000 he finalized his MBA and then switched to purchasing. He i.a. managed a post-merger purchasing department with 30 FTEs and a volume of 250 mEUR at the Dutch utility company RWE-Essent. As a B2B account manager he successfully tendered European glass-fibre tenders for Ziggo. He then was a supply chain manager (board position) at a Philip production site and contributed to its successful turn-around.

In 2008 Anne entered academia. He lectures marketing, entrepreneurship, supply chain management, project and quality management, research methodology, change management, and purchasing & supply management. Since 2010 he is also involved in research on purchasing.

Anne is a member of the Dutch Association of Purchasing Managers NEVI, of the International Purchasing & Supply Education & Research Association IPSERA, and of the American Institute of Supply Management ISM.
In 2012 he started his doctorate on purchasing within Small and Medium-sized Enterprises.

Annah Stretton

Organisation: Stretton Clothing, New Zealand

Presentation: Leadership Inspiring the Best.

Bio: Founder director of Stretton Group, Annah Stretton leads a multimillion dollar international vertical women’s fashion company from its headquarters in Morrinsville where it exports Stretton designed and manufactured clothes to Australia, UK, Ireland and Europe. Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2012, Stretton has built a company of 150 staff working across a network of 30 Annah Stretton retail stores in New Zealand, and with new stores opening in Australia.
Stretton was recognised for services to fashion, business and the community with a New Zealand Order of Merit in 2008. This award underpins her extensive roles as a business mentor and philanthropist. She was also recognized for marketing innovation in 2009 with the prestigious Veuve Clicquot Businesswomen of the Year Award.

Jennie Vickers

Bio: Jennie Vickers Director, ZeopardLaw, is British born, and has lived and worked in the UK and Australia and is now a proud citizen of New Zealand.

Qualifying as a Solicitor in London with the World-renowned firm of Slaughter and May Jennie has held a number of roles in major law firms and within global corporates. Her specialities include compliance and risk management, energy sector law, intellectual property, innovation law and commercial business law.

In addition to her law degree, Jennie also has a Masters of Management and a Graduate Diploma of Business Administration from the University of Auckland. Unusually for someone with her background, Jennie is the senior Mind Mapping instructor in New Zealand for Tony Buzan, inventor of Mind Mapping and has 3 active years as a Mentor of Thought Leaders Global. A natural born rule breaker, Jennie brings a unique combination of skills and experience to business. She “gets” how innovators think, she employs only Millennials and she understands how to connect with rule breakers, to keep business safe from regulators.

Jennie splits her time between running ZeopardLaw and as COE (Chief of Everything) of Zeopard Think, a consultancy providing advice on risk management and compliance, nurturing thought leading thinking in business and using social media for executive positioning. In her spare time she MCs conferences needing an attuned and intelligent MC who can help messages stick and delivers keynotes on a range of topics including her topic at the Congress.

Khuram Bukhari

Bio: Khuram Bukhari is a lecturer within the Institute of Management Sciences, Bahauddin Zakariya University, and Multan Pakistan. He teaches leadership and management, quality management, and business performance management.
Khuram Bukhari has held a number of positions in the quality field including Quality Management Trainer and Policy Coordinator in Higher Education Institutions. Bukhari published different articles and chapters on Business Performance Management. His major contribution is towards development of sustainable performance measurement tools for service organizations (Education, Hospitals, Hotels and banks). Currently, he is associated with Higher Education Commission Pakistan in a project, “Development of Business Excellence Model for the Manufacturing Sector of Pakistan”

Paulo Augusto Cauchick Miguel

Organisation: Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brazil

Presentation: Practice of environmental responsibility: analysis of secondary data from the National Brazilian Foundation and a case study in a manufacturing company.

Bio: Paulo Augusto Cauchick Miguel obtained his PhD in Manufacturing Engineering from the School of Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Birmingham, UK. His industrial experience in Brazil includes working as a manufacturing engineer for Varga/TRW and Bendix/Allied automotive brake system companies. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Production and Systems Engineering of the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) in Brazil. His research interests include management of new product development, project management, and quality management.

Mehran Nejati

Organisation: Universiti Sains Malaysia, Malaysia

Presentation: The Effect of Stakeholders’ Influence on Responsible Practices towards Employees and Its Positive Impacts on Performance of Small Firms: Insights from Malaysia.

Bio: Mehran Nejati is a PhD research fellow and tutor at the School of Management, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and has been awarded the prestigious USM Vice-Chancellor Award for three years due to his significant research contributions. His main areas of interest include ‎Corporate Social Responsibility, Service Quality and Performance Management. He has published numerous papers in ‎International peer-reviewed journals. He is also a business improvement consultant and a Certified Six Sigma Green Belt by the American Society for Quality.
