COMPETITION FORMAT AND TIMELINE
The Competition takes place in 3 rounds.
Round 1: Document Your Best Practice
Closing Date: 5.00pm, Monday 15 October 2012 for Large and Overseas Organisation and 5.00pm, Friday 9 November for New Zealand SMEs.
Participants are required to complete the entry form and describe their best practice. Three submissions per organization are allowed.
A panel of judges will assess the entries by the 22 October and invite 25 to 40 organisations to Round 2 at the World Business Capability Congress on the 6 December.
Entrants that are not SMEs will be required to pay the Best Practice Competition fee of NZ$550 GST inclusive by the 10 November – this fee includes entry to the 3 days of the Congress for one person.
New Zealand SMEs (under 20 employees) that enter the competition and are considered to be amongst the 20 best applicants will receive one free registration to the whole Congress, 5-7 December courtesy of sponsorship by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) – of these 20 the best of them will qualify to Round 2.
An SME is a legal entity, which may be a company, partnership, trust, estate, incorporated society, producer board, local or central government organisation, religious organisation, voluntary organization or self-employed individual.
Round 2: Present Your Best Practice (Qualifiers)
Date: 6 December 2012 Venue: World Business Capability Congress
Those that qualify will be invited to give an 8 minute presentation. This will be assessed by a panel of judges. Instructions on the format of the presentation are shown here. The organizers will be available to provide advice and comment on the presentation slides from 7 to 18 November – to help entrants deliver a strong presentation. Organisations that also enter the Global Benchmarking Award, and are selected, will be given an additional 8 minutes to present their case for winning this award.
The winners and runners up for the Best Practice Competition and Global Benchmarking Award will be announced at the Congress Dinner and Awards Evening
Round 3: Present Your Best Practice (Winners only)
Date: 7 December 2012 Venue: World Business Capability Congress
The New Zealand Best Practice Competition winners and the Overseas Best Practice Competition winner repeat their 8 minute presentation for a chance to win the 1st International Best Practice Competition. The presentations will be assessed by a new panel of judges. This will be followed by an awards ceremony.
